The Irrawaddy Dolphin is an oceanic dolphin found in the freshwaters of lower the Mekong River between the border of Laos and Cambodia. The Irrawaddy Dolphin has been placed on the extinction list with only 100 dolphin remaining.
These dolphins are protected and therefore, not hunted or captured. The Laos people believe these dolphins protect them from the dangers of the crocodile.
